1. The service

AI Essay Check ("we") provides a pre-submission check: you upload a document and pay a per-document fee (or use a pre-paid credit), and we return two reports produced by a third-party detection tool — an AI-writing report and a Similarity report. Every check is carried out by a person, not an automated pipeline. The service is informational. We do not edit, rewrite or otherwise alter your document.

2. Who may use it

You must be at least 16 years old. You may only upload documents that you wrote, or that you have permission to check. You are solely responsible for complying with your school or university's academic integrity rules; nothing in our reports changes what those rules require of you.

3. No guarantee

AI-writing and similarity detection are probabilistic and imperfect. Different institutions use different tools, thresholds and settings, and some use none. We make no representation that our reports predict how any institution will assess your work, and we accept no liability for academic, disciplinary or other consequences arising from your submission decisions.

4. Payment, credits and refunds

Prices are shown before payment and charged in GBP via Stripe; promotional codes may be applied at checkout. Credit packs are attached to the email address used at purchase, never expire, and are not transferable. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations you may cancel a credit pack within 14 days of purchase for a full refund provided no credit has been used. If we cannot process a file (corrupt, unreadable, unsupported format, or over the size limit) we refund that check in full or restore the credit. Once reports have been delivered, the service has been performed and no refund is available for that check, except where required by law or under section 5.

5. Turnaround

The expected delivery time shown before you pay (and on your tracking page) is a target measured from successful payment, not a guarantee. If we deliver more than 2 hours after that expected time we will refund 50% of the price paid for that check (or restore half a credit's value as a refund). When the site shows us as Away, the expected time is calculated from our stated return time.

6. Two reports

Each check includes an AI-writing report and a Similarity report. In rare cases the tool cannot produce a Similarity report for a file (for example, an unreadable scan). We will tell you on your tracking page and deliver the AI-writing report; if neither report can be produced we refund in full.

7. Your content

You retain all rights in your document. You grant us a limited licence to store and process it solely to provide the service. We will never add your document to any plagiarism database, repository, or AI training set, or share it with third parties other than the detection tool and infrastructure providers needed to deliver the service. Files are deleted automatically within 30 days of completion.

8. Acceptable use

You must not use the service to facilitate submitting work that is not your own, to upload content you do not have rights to, or to upload unlawful content. We may refuse or cancel orders that appear to breach these terms, with a full refund if no report has been delivered.

9. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the order concerned. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer.
